What am I to do?

I'll try to keep this brief.

As i was driving down River Road tonight after work i saw a form in the road ahead of me. It looked grey and had a nondescript shape. so doing as I always do when there is some foreign object in the road, I swerved into the other lane too avoid it. While doing so I looked over to see what it was, to my dismay, it was a cat.

A cat that someone had hit and just left in the road.

I immediately stopped and backed up with my hazards on. It was about 12:55am at this point so rt117 wasn't exactly bustling with traffic. i got a bag from my car and decided the least I could do was get the poor guy out of the road. I reach down to pick him up and he's quite dead. At this point I'm totally heart broken. I kneel down and with my hands inside the plastic bag scoop the little guy up.

He was still warm.

I almost lost it right there. It was like 34 degrees out so he had just been hit.

I got it together and got him to the side of the road. At this point I had no idea what to do with him. I couldn't just toss him into the shrubs, but at the same time i couldnt really leave him on the side of the road where a passing car will see him. I thought to myself the owners need to know that he was hit but to leave the guy near the neighborhood I think he came from is plain sick.

At this point I was pretty overwhelmed and decided the best thing to do was to leave him out of the way of the road and generally out of sight so that you would only come upon him if you were looking.

What are you supposed to do? I guess I could have just driven off and ignored the whole thing as the bastard who hit him did. But I felt obligated to get him out of the road so that he wouldn't end up smashed into the pavement.

I don't know if what I did was the right thing, I don't really know what to do at all in that situation. Basically I just hate death and irresponsible drivers.

Im sort of glad I got that out. I wasn't the one that hit him, I just got his body out of harms way. I shouldn't feel guilty.

But I do.

My Playing Enemy/ Pelican Split 7" came!

It also came with a copy of Playing Enemy's new album, I Was Your City. Over all not as good as Cesarean, but still very good none the less. Solid songs, they havent strayed at all from the sound they had on Cesarean, the entire album is clearly a break up album. It isn't too over the top but I'll be honest, some of the phrases Damian Johnston belts seem cliched and a little cheesy. The music is solid, a single track of chaotic and sparatic guitars over a driving bass line. The drumming is really the most exciting part of the album for me, Andrew Gormley is a fucking phenominal drummer.

The Pelican song on the split is a little dissapointing, just a demo of Sirius. It sounds no different than the album cut other than the fact that the mix is extremely dry, no low end whatsoever. Nothing special.

The Playing Enemy song, The Priest Cop, is fantastic. It seems like it could fit easily on I Was Your City, but drones on much longer than most Playing Enemy songs. If the rest of the Accesory EP is as good as this track, I'll be thrilled.

Other than my music arriving, not a whole lot going on. I only have 2 days of classes this week seeing as they gave us Monday and Tuesday off for Columbus Day. That pretty much rules. I Don't have any class tomorrow, I work. Tyler is coming in to train a bit on the Zamboni, so not only will I not have to wait alone in the dark for the old dudes to get their asses in gear, but all the annoying crap will get done twice as fast. Plus having someone to talk to at work makes it go a hell of a lot faster. Class Friday, then weekend. THAT RULES. Its sort of a bummer that I have to get up early for work on Sat but oh well, hopefully the snackbar folks will be cool and show up for work. After that its off the NH to see SUGARBUTT!<3.

This entry is long and, I assume, boring. Here is the readers digest condensed: CONVERGE RULED! Montreal is easy to get lost in, and this weekend was boring and tiring.

That being said I'll now "Tarantino" this shit:

Monday - Web Design final assigned, this entails a 56 question on-line exam, a 4 page image map, and a 6 page website to be linked with semantic linkage (i'll spare you what that means but just know that 99.999% of poeple will NEVER use them and that NONE of the major web brosers support them.) I then owned my math exam ( I love that i took college calculus over at Platts and I get to Champlain and they put me in Collegic Algebra.)

Tuesday- "Critique" in digital imaging. The kids here need to grow some thicker skin and learn to take criticism... and learn to give it. Serriously, tell you that i think you should have cropped your image and given it higher contrast should NOT be insulting. If you tell me my work is "SICK" and that you like it and offer me no points on where it needs work, just don't talk. My work is not perfect, don't tell me it is. That was followed by Graphic design, where we are yet to use the computers... what the hell was I thinking Transfering to this place?

Weds - Long... had math and learned that I, as I had suspected, destroyed the mid term... those polynomials sure are tough :sarcasm:. That was followed by hanging out at Edwin's between classes and falling asleep on his unmade bed after gorging myself on skittles (I dont know why I eat those damn things my fucking jaw sounds like its got sand in the joint for a week after.) I woke up just in time to drive like an asshole down mainstreet and to get there with 2 minutes to spare, I know that I rule, you don't have to tell me. English was basic and boring as it has been, I feel like a fucking freshman, i took all this shit before.

Thursday - I don't have classes, which rules. I do, however, work. I work a long ass shift too. 4pm to midnight, but I'm usually stuck there until later. This Thursday I was stuck there until 12:45 because the old men of the oldman hockey league that plays Thursdays wouldn't get the fuck out of the locker rooms. So i sat and waited, with all the doors locked and only one row of lights on and a broom in hand, to sweep up their shit that they can't toss out on their own. Got home and realized that I had a drawing due for digital Imaging in the morning. So I busted out a angry looking old bald man, it turned out quite nice and as I have been working with it I have grown fond of it. I named him Monsuier Borcridoux.

Friday - Got 4 hours of sleep... got to class and most people didn't do the drawing and there was no penalty for it. I was pissed about that, we're in fucking college, if you don't to the assignment you should fail the assignment. I went and paid my car insurace after class and essentially emptied my bank account. English was stupid as always, we turned in our critiques we had to write and then watched about 2/3 of Shallow Hal, I really felt like it was a worthwhile class to attend, especially when all I was thinking about was the fact that Converge was that night. Class ended and I basically ran to my car.

*Enter the weekend*
To set this up, I fucking love Converge, they are pretty much my favorite band but I haven't had the opportunity to see them before (I did but we were stupid kids then).

Traffic was LAME, I was hoping to get gas before picking up Chris, Jen(n), and their friend Jesse, but traffic didn't allow that. It took 20 minutes to get from Maple St. to Spear St. and I had to Pick the dudes up at 3:30. I was late, but Jen(n) wasn't there yet anyway so it wasnt a big deal. She showed moments after I got there with the dirrections (that we would fuck up hard) and food. thank god for Jen(n) (this won't be the only time she saves the day.)She also cursed us by letting us know that there was a 100% chance of rain.

We filled up and were on our way to the grat white north by 4, which was orriginally the plan anyhow. we got to montreal with little difficulty, once we got there, the chaos started. Map Quest was getting us where we needed to go pretty much, but both chris and I were on edge, City driving just isn't our thing, we live in the wrong state to get good at it. we missed one exit in the tunnel and it was all over. we spent an hour+ driving all over the place trying to retrace our steps. we did so too well and ended up back on the champlain bridge. I got us off the bridge and then headed back the right way, only problem NO MERGE LANE coming off the park onramp. I clenched my ass and gunned it as fast as my stupid Volvo would go and thankfully didn't die.

After a whole lot more of my awful driving (this was a severly ego damaging trip for me as far as my driving abilies are concerned) we started listening to Jen(n) again and using the terrible little map mapquest throws on at the end of the dirrections she did some magic and got us to the venue. Thank God for Jen(n). We parked with little problem and got to the show in perfect time to get our tickets and get inside.

Mare: nothing special, droned out and long with lots of chorused vocals.
Cursed: boring.
Terror: These guys put on a rad show, not normally a huge fan of them but I deffinately enjoyed the set.

CONVERGE: FUCKING OWNED! Opened with First Light>Eagles Become Vultures. Played some really classic stuff and covered a lot of my favorites. The Broken Vow, Concubine, The Saddest Day, Black Cloud, Last Light, Homewrecker, Conduit. It ruled. The bands had been wearing facepaint all night for some reason, as some kind of joke. Kurt came out with a damn heartagram on his face, it was hillarious, and Nate looked like a member of KISS. by the end of the set Kurt had sweat so much that it looked like he had drawn eyebrows, whiskers and a goatee on. Jacob sweat like 40 gallons. They played perfectly and Jacob was charismatic and energetic as hell. It was perfection.

The crowd was wicked lame, 90 pound guys and 200 pound girls.

Chris:"Yeah, I think were probably a pair of the bigger dudes here."
Me:"Yeah, but were also skinnier than all of the girls here."}

They were all wearing the same black Converge jacket they bought so they could look cool at school on monday. NOT a single one could dance. Most were drinking and obnoxious and a few were trying to grope Jen(n), not too cool.

The trip out of Montreal and Home was much less exciting and the trip in. It was raining still and I might have said that "Jen(n) is the reason it rains." Once out of the city it was just a low key 2 hour trip, spent most of the time just chatting with Chris, Jen(n) and Jesse just sort of dozed or relaxed in the back not really saying much.I dropped the dudes off on spear st. at quarter of 2. I cruised home, desperately trying not to hydroplane, got in around 2:15, got to sleep around 2:45

Saturday: got up at 5:30 in order to get to work for 6:30. I was tired and sore. It went as most Saturdays go, I drank my weight in coffee and harrassed the hell out of the girls in the snack bar. I wasn't driving too well and missed a spot on an icemake, ohwell.

later that evening Noel calls me and begs me to work the sunday morning snack bar shift because neither of the idiots scheduled were going to show up and neither had gotten anyone to cover for them. Should have gone to bed earlier cause at this point the most sleep I had gotten in the last two days was the 4 hours i got thursday night. But I didnt go to bed earlier because i still had that webdesign exam hanging over my head.

Sunday: worked the morning snackbar shift all by myself. It SUCKED, if the two assholes that missed shifts work while I am supervisor, my god have mercy on their souls. I made 8 dollars in tips which I put into my gas tank.

I got home took a shower, Jess was home for the weekend so she came over around 6. Chris (my brother) was the only one home home with us so we took him to dinner so he wouldnt have to be stuck home all alone, then after we all went to see Corpse Bride :HIGHLY RECOMENDED:. After that came home and worked on my webdesign exam, finnished it around 3am and went to bed not to wake up until 1:30 Monday.

I woke up and thought "I'm so glad I don't have classes or have to work today."

and with that my story comes full circle.

So this week is nearly over and I couldn't be happier about that. Not because it was preticularly bad, but mostly cause I need the downtime. I have been working on my digital imaging and webdesign non-stop, on top of that I have some essays to write for english that I have no idea on what to do it on.

On the upside, yesterday was Jess' birthday and I rode down to Exeter, NH with her family to see her and eat dinner with her at her uncle Ernie's house. It was really nice, both Jess' aunt and uncle are fantastic cooks. They have a really nice place too, with a BMW 528i in the driveway *drool*. Exeter is pretty much the perfect New England Town. It ruled. The only down side was teh political debate that ensued ont eh ride home. I am considerably more liberal than Jess' family and for the most part was totally uncomfortable the whole 2.5 hours back.

Jess is comign home tomorrow and we are going out for dinner and a night on the town to celebrate her birthday and that will undoubtedly rule. Then on Saturday afternoon Pete, Jon, and Jon's buddy Brian are going to attempt to take a trip over to the Burlington side of the lake, should also be a solid time.

Plattsburgh is hell bent to keep me here.
I dropped sculpture the second week of classes this semester online, or so I thought. The week before spring break I noticed that it was still on my schedule, meaning I had been skipping it for 4 weeks. Not a good thing. So i went to the registrar to straighten it all out, and the fuckers say there isn't anyway for them to take me out of the class with out me filling out a withdrawal form. So I do, it takes me fucking forever to track down the teacher, I finally got a hold of him today. Im in the office of the Registrar and i go to turn in the form.

"oh, these were due friday."

Fuck.

Turns out I have to fill out annother form now to drop the course and turn it in to the dean of arts and sciences. So i start filling it out and it says that doing this requires "extreme circumstances". So in that section I wrote "general incompetence on the part of the registrar" and gave a wordy synopsis of the situation.

Hopefully all will go well. If not I am going in there guns blazing to get the grade from that class stricken from the record. A 0 will severely ruin my GPA to a point where transferring may be impossible. Another thing I may have to do is take the class over so that the 0 will be replaced. Fuck that as well.

I really hope I dont have to go kick the dean's ass, so he better accept my "extreme circumstances".

This game ruled. Ice-Kickball is the shizznite.

The whole crew was there and it was awesome. we had enough people for both teams this year. MVPs were deffinately Jane for being a fricken tank and taking all the abuse she got, and Lauren for always making the play. Chris and Jesse still have butter-fingers and Pete and I are still cocky assholes. It was GREAT.

I gave Jon a ride on the zamboni and he really enjoyed it.

Chris' mom made us breakfast the next morning it was the best, this weekend was rockin.

my birthday is never a good time of year. 6 years ago it was my Grandfather passing away. last couple of years it has been minor things, unfortunate family occurances. it remnds me that half my doesnt like us cause we arent like them.
this year patty dog is sick. seh is 14 and has dissosiative dementia, on top of that he lungs are going. its becoming unfair to make her stick around. saddly enough if she is put down she wont be the first dog of mine put down on my birthday when i was younger my first dog, sammy was put down ON my birthday because she had a displastic hip. no patty whome i have had since i was 6 years old, i mean there are worse things such as when my grandfather passed on 6 days before my birthday a few years back (dear jesus that was fucking hard)but she has been with us so long it is heartbreaking to see her go.
that on top of a bummer of a weekend and a bummer of a week so far.
